Disinfectant glutaraldehyde compsns. - in low-volume hydrogen peroxide to prevent polymerisation

Synergistic bactericidal and fungicidal compsn. comprises glutaraldehyde and low-vol. H2O2 soln. The presence of peroxides prevents polymerisation of the aldehyde to give yellow deposits. Aldehyde concn. can be increased to 4% without any deposit and with high microbicidal activity. Used esp. in disinfection of operating theatres. Rooms may be used 4-5 hrs. after treatment compared with 12-24 hrs. when conventional disinfectants are used. A specific disinfectant compsn. contains 2% glutaraldehyde and 98% 6-vol. H2O2 soln.
