Electric dry cell interconnecting cup - has disc and flange welded to cells for mechanical and electrical interconnection

An interconnecting cup for electric dry cell provides electrical continuity and mechanical interconnection between two similar cells. The cup (1) has a circular disc (2) and a cylindrical flange (3). The flange has two slots (4) which extend into the disc (2). The disc (2) also has a slot (5) in-line with the slots (4) of the flange (3). The cup (1) fits on the central terminal of one of the cells. It also fits over the bottom of the case of the other cell. A spot-weld is made on each side of the slot in the disc to secure the cup to the cell terminal. Spot-welds are also made on the flange and near the slots to secure the cup to the case of the other cell.
