<p>Electrical connector having contacts in rows and columns the overall plan form being rectangular. The connector allows a high contact packing density, each contact experiencing the minimum amount of pressure consistant with maintaining electrical connection. Each pair of male and female contacts is independently sprung as is the whole of the insulator holding the female contacts within its outer shell. The cylindrical female contacts are held within thin walled rigid tubes at the rear end of which helical springs are trapped bearing against a fixed block in the contact holder. Springs around the socket circumference allow it to move axially.</p> |
