Butchered animal carcasses are evaluated on an industrial scale by measuring distances between two well defined anatomical points by using articulated telescopic rules aligned using TV cameras. Correction is applied for the cellular tissue structure of the edible meat. A vertical frame (1) is able to move horizontally on rollers (2, 3, 4, 5) within a fixed frame (6). Vertical traversing members (11, 12, 13,) support long (37) and short (38) telescopic tules. Controls (14a-19a) operate endless screws (14, 19) to adjust vertical and horizontal position of the rules and simultaneously adjust positions of TV cameras (31, 32, 33) as indicated on a screen (34) to point at locations on a meat carcass in order to measure lengths between these points on the rules.
|
