The closed contour of the tank is constructed in four parts. The bottom (1) of the tank has the greatest radius of curvature and is welded (2) to two side pieces (4) which are shaped with a smaller radius of curvature and are symmetrical about the horizontal axis. The contour is closed by a top dome (9) welded to the side pieces (8) and having the same radius of curvature which is less than 0.8m or pref. less than 0.7m. this modification to the usual oval or elliptical cross-section for vehicle tanks improves the carrying capacity and the resistance to pressure drops in the tank.
