A marker for use in the detection of oestrus comprises a container 1 for marking material, a spring biased ball 28 projecting through an opening in the container and a harness for supporting the container so that it can be fastened around the neck or under the chin of a male animal. Depression of the ball is restricted by a tube extending from the other side of the container and housing the spring. The opening for the ball has sharp edges to clean debris off the ball and a dipstick 35 is included in the container. |
