<p>The bulk handling system for conveying granular material which is liable to clog from a hopper (1) to e.g. a road tanker (14) uses a vacuum pump (18). The outlet of the hopper may be level with the vehicle tank (13), and is connected to it by a flexible part (10) of a discharge tube supported by e.g. an overhead suspension arm (17). This tube, which may be of relatively small diameter, is fitted with a seal (15) fitting the entry of the tank (13). Another outlet on the top of the tank is connected by a line (19) to the vacuum pump. An alternative arrangement has a vertical discharge tube housing a conveying screw under the hopper, discharging into a container below. The suction pump is then located at the top of the vertical tube, and a non return valve at the bottom.</p> |
