The power operated chuck has a body with radially moved jaws which are provided with lubrication for the wear surfaces. This is achieved without the use of a pump for the lubricant which simplifies the design with simultaneous reduction of the overall dimensions of the chuck. The displacement of the main jaws (3) is controlled by the inclined surfaces of the chuck piston (2). The main and the auxiliary jaws (7) from a closed lubricant chamber (11). Each chamber is connected to the annular cavity (14) through channels (15). The filling of the cavity is made through the offset nipple (12) in the cover (4). The distribution of the lubricant to the slide surfaces is due to displacement of the jaws which alter the volumen of the lubricant chambers.
