1518057 Fuel cell INSTITUT FRANCAIS DU PETROLE 8 Oct 1976 [9 Oct 1975] 41958/76 Heading H1B A fuel cell block 1 comprises a single element containing two terminal electrodes 2, 3 and intermediate electrodes, 4 to 7, defining chambers 10 to 16, the intermediate electrodes being formed by two U- or V-shaped members, 8, 9, which are insulated from each other and positioned in the cell so that one arm of each member is inserted between the two arms of the other member. During operation of the fuel cell, chambers 11, 13 and 15 are filled with electrolyte, chambers 10 and 14 are fed with a combustion supporting fluid, e.g. O 2 or air, and chambers 12 and 16 are fed with a fuel, e.g. H 2 . The intermediate electrodes may be formed from a sheet of expanded metal, e.g. each face of the arms being coated with a suitable catalyst. |
