A telephone calling line, esp. from a coin box, has a transmitter in the loop in which its identification number is stored and can be called out. A receiver is provided at the exchange for subscriber stations. The exchange receiver sends a signal when a call is received, which calls out the signal stored in the transmitter of the calling subscriber, receives and stores it, and possibly retransmits it for display at the called subscriber.
