<p>The igloo structure is watertight, stormproof, and insulated against heat and cold. It is made up from separate elements into a compact house, which can float like a boat, and withstand earthquakes or it can be transported anywhere by helicopter or road vehicle. It is made up from a number of segments, with heat and cold insulation. The floor is also of segments, insulated and watertight. Interconnection can be effected by battens. There may be a central column accommodating a covering or ventilating hood and a stabilising block, also a central circular seat or table. Cells for solar energy may be mounted on the outside segments, and there may be an energy storage unit in the upper areas.</p> |
