Covers (3) and/or bottoms (4) of the vessels of low-pressure filters for water treatment are configured flat. Two or more filters having a shared flat-configured cover (3) and/or bottom (4) can be connected to form a filter unit. A reduction in wall thickness of the bottoms (4) and covers (3) can be achieved by the cover (3) and/or bottom (4) of the filter vessel being reinforced by stiffeners, for example cross-bracing (7, 10) or anchors. The feed or collection lines (7, 10) or a nozzle plate (8, 9) required in any case can also be used, for example, for these stiffeners. <IMAGE>
