A steering column cylinder lock comprises a cylinder 3 which is moved axially by withdrawal of the peg from the unlooked position, Fig. 1, to the locked position Fig. 2 (not shown), an electrical connection 4 being closed when the cylinder is in the unlocked position and open when it is in the locked position. The electrical connection comprises a spring-loaded contact pin 4 mounted in an insulated housing 5 in the cylinder housing 1, the pin being connected through the spring 7 to a connector body 6 connected in the circuit of an audible or visible warning device in series with a door switch. If the door is opened with the key in the steering column lock, pin 4 contacts the cylinder body 3 to complete the alarm circuit. When the key is withdrawn to operate the steering column lock, cylinder 3 moves axially so that pin 3 is opposite a recess 8, whereby the alarm circuit is broken. |
