The automatic tuner, for resonant circuits, has frequency counters and constructs the difference between the actual tuning and the requiring tuning entered into the tuner in order to effect tuning as quickly as possible in one step. The required tuning is denoted by a d.c. voltage and the tuning process itself is electronic. This d.c. voltage is set by moving a mechanical device. For tuning over a large frequency range, additional signals can be employed to set the waveband. The electronic setting enables a finer tuning to be achieved than is possible by hand.
|
