Prefabricated concrete tension chord beam - with lengthways top side cutout for concrete filling at pressure zone

The concrete beam is for use as tension chord (10) in a composite structure which also includes a complement of concrete (12) as a pressure zone as used in the top closure of doorways or window openings, or beam and ceiling structures. The tension chord is prefabricated. A cutout recess (16) is incorporated in the upper side of the beam, running lengthways and symmetrically sited. The beam may be U-shaped in cross-section, closed at the ends, with the cutout extending over its whole length. The cutout may be divided into several sections, at equal intervals apart. The cutout may be at least half as deep as the girder, and a third as wide.
