A low-temp. carbonisation oven contains rhomboidal refractory blocks, arranged across the vertical oven chamber. They are so arranged that the coal is forced to descend in a thin layer in a number of zigzag paths. The gas extn. tubes are arranged along the apices of the rhomboidal blocks. This prevents incrustations of the upper zones of the charge by the ascending low-temp. carbonisation gas. The flow of coal is heated extremely uniformly. The oven operates continuously and the charge is in constant motion which prevents clogging.
|
