An appts. for use with a washing machine, or the like, has a valve to prevent unwanted release of water or gas from the tubing. Two valve closing units are contained in a housing which are held in position by spring or magnetic forces against the pressure of the medium in the tubing. When there is a normal pressure in the supply tube, the valve is held open but, in the event of a fracture, the holding forces in the valve are overcome and one of the closing bodies moves into the closed position. The other closing body is in the form of a piston, sprung bellows, membrane, etc. which reacts to a slight drop of pressure in the event of a tube fracture with the assistance of an auxiliary valve. The valve prevents water, partic. from flowing through a tube when there is a loss or leakage, even when there is a small split, by reacting to a pressure drop.
