Plate shear clamping mechanism - has profiled elastomeric strip facing plate to eliminate marking during return stroke

The hold-down unit of the plate shear eliminates marking due to pressure exerted on the cut plate during the return stroke of the guillotine blade. This is achieved with a profiled strip of elastomeric material attached to the hold-down unit for contacting the plate. The elastic deformation of the strip exceeds the stroke of the shear so that the strip is always in contact with the table or the blank. The hold-down unit (9) has a bottom pressing element (11), which is lowered to press the plate against the machine table, and remains down till the blade is lifted back. Three pressing element (11) is made of rubber or plastic and has grooves (13) with humps (14) of trapezoidal cross section. The outer humps are wider than the rest and have round recesses (15) for locating pins (16) of the hold-down unit (9).
