<p>1329923 Mowers A SCHMIDT SNR A SCHMIDT JNR and L SCHMIDT 25 Feb 1972 [23 July 1971] 8768/72 Addition to 1282085 Heading A1F [Also in Divisions El and B8] The roadside verge suction pick-up attachment of the parent Specification 1282085 is trailed behind (Figure 1) or (Figure 2) mounted on the rear, rather than the front, of a collecting vehicle 15. As in the parent specification a nozzle 9 on an angled suction pipe 21-24 rests on wheels or skids 25 so that it follows the ground contour, lifting and twisting movements of the nozzle being allowed by ball races 22, 23, but can also be lifted by a ram 19. In Figure 1 the attachment is laterally displaceable on guides 28 by a ram (not shown) on the trailer 41; in Figure 2 the laterallydisplaceable attachment is removably mounted on the vehicle 15 by a lift linkage 6-7 and interengages parts 33-34-35, permitting self assembly and is provided with a seat 42 and feet 36, 37. In modifications (a) the trailer has three or four wheels and is steerable, (b) the vehicle 15 has an attachment mounting plate 34 both at front and rear; (c) the suction pipe can be folded away about a vertical axis for transit - preferably so that the nozzle lies on or against the trailer; (d) the horizontal portion 24 of the suction pipe is telescopically extendable by a ram.</p> |
