1511991 Antimicrobial solutions; topical pharmaceutical compositions UNITED STATES BORAX & CHEMICAL CORP 5 Jan 1977 [13 Jan 1976 26 Nov 1976] 00158/77 Headings A5B and ASE An aqueous antimicrobial solution comprises: (a) 0.05-0.5% by wt. of 5-chloro-2-(2, 4- dichlorophenoxy) phenol; (b) 3-15% of tetrasodium ethylenediamine tetraacetate or trisodium nitrilotriacetate; (c) 0.5-4% of an anionic surfactant which is disodium dodecyldiphenylether disulphonate and/or sodium 2- ethylhexyl sulphate and (d) 0-20% of a watermiscible glycol, e.g. hexylene glycol or polyethylene glycol. Acetic acid sufficient to give a pH of 10.0-10.5, ethanol or isopropanol, perfumes and dyes may also be included. The compositions may be used as disinfectants. In addition the compositions of Examples 1, 2 and 3 may be used for the treatment of athlete's foot. |
