1479648 Preserved semen INSTITUT NATIONAL DE LA RECHERCHE AGRONOMIQUE 17 Dec 1974 [18 Dec 1973] 54410/ 74 Heading A2D A process of preserving a ram semen composition comprises diluting freshly collected semen in a first diluent containing lactose and egg yolk but not glycerol, cooling to between 3 and 5‹C then diluting the cooled mixture with a second diluent containing powdered milk, sodium citrate and glycerol, the amount of glycerol in the diluted semen being not greater than 4% u/v, the diluted semen being conditioned in straws and frozen. The first dilution is preferably carried out at 25-32‹C, the second at 3-5‹C and the diluted semen frozen at -75‹C. |
