<p>1418175 Moulding tyres UNIROYAL AG 6 March 1973 [7 March 1972] 10865/73 Heading B5A A mould for a tyre curing press has sidewall shaping members 2, 3, tread shaping segments 4, a segment shifting member 5, an annular flange 7 on the member 3 constituting a piston slidable axially in an annular chamber 6 in the member 5 whereby, with the mould in the fully closed position of Fig. 1, when fluid is supplied to the chamber 6 the member 5 is raised from the shaping member 2 and the segments 4 moved radially outwardly. Relative movement between the members 3 and 5 is limited by the heads of pins 9 engaging an annular part 8 of the member 5 slidable in an annular chamber of the member 3. Circumferential arrays of ball bearings 20, 25, Fig. 2, and seals 22, 23 are provided. Each array may be adjustable circumferentially. Instead of the segments having frusto-conical surfaces abutting a surface of the member 5, the latter includes a depending cylindrical wall surrounding the segments, Fig. 3 (not shown), and each segment is pivotally attached to the wall by a pair of links 35.</p> |
