<p>1439273 Flame retardant polyester UNION CARBIDE CORP 5 June 1973 [6 June 1972] 26710/73 Addition to 1195902 Headings C3R and C3P A flame retardant polyester containing at least 2% by weight combined bromine and having an acid number of less than 100 is the brominated condensation product of a mixture containing an unsaturated polycarboxylic acid or anhydride and either a cyclohexene dimethanol isomer other than 3-cyclohexene-1,1- dimethanol or 3-cyclohexene-1,1-dimethanol as the sole polyol component. A preferred brominated polyester is one derived from maleic anhydride, ethylene glycol and 3-cyclohexene- 2,3 - dimethanol, 3 - cyclohexene - 2,4 - dimethanol or 3-cyclohexene-3,4-dimethanol. The above polyester may be cross-linked with an ethylenically unsaturated monomer, e.g. styrene.</p> |
