1288572 Spring clips CEM Co Inc 9 Sept 1969 [4 Dec 1968] 44506/69 Heading E2B [Also in Division F2] A fastening pin consists of spirally coiled sheet material with an outer end portion 2b terminating in an edge 4 extending substantially parallel to the axis of the pin, an area of the end portion 2b extending to the edge diverging circumferentially from the spiral formed by the rest of the sheet material and providing a spring lip which circumferentially becomes progressively further spaced from the part 3 of the sheet material coiled thereunder and the remainder of the end portion abutting the part of the sheet material coiled thereunder, and with at least one of the two end portions 5 of the pin being tapered. In the construction shown both end portions 5 of the pin are tapered and both end areas 6 of the end portion 2b abut the underlying part 3. The lip can either be curved as shown or it can be flat. The pin instead of being tapered at both end portions as shown can have a flanged head at one end portion. The pin can be used as a hinge pin or for rigidly connecting two members together. |
