<p>The electrolyte is capable of modifying the colour of the surface of the electrode in contact with it, when an electric current is passing through the electrolyte while the opacifier provides an obstacle to the passage of light such that it becomes transulcuent or opaque. The opacifier may be present in the form of a polymeric binder. It may be a aprticulate material, esp. a pyrogenic oxide(s), such as pyrogenic silica. It is pref. white or colourless. The opacifier may also contain an organic gel.</p> |
