The pump (2) draws fuel from a tank (3) and delivers it initially into a vertical cylindrical container (1). This has an upper outlet (10) in its side which has a connection (15) to a carburettor (12). A lower outlet (11) in the container side has a connection (18) to the suction side of the pump (2). This connection contains an adjustable flow regulating valve (17). At its top the cylindrical container opens into a larger diameter vessel (7) which holds air and is closed at the top. As the fuel delivered by the pump rises in the cylinder it compresses the air above it and the resulting pressure maintains an even flow to the carburettor. Excess fuel from the pump is recycled through the lower connection to the pump suction.
