1537395 Resin/rubber/filler compositions BORG WARNER CORP 13 May 1976 [28 May 1975] 19838/76 Heading C3M A rigid, impact resistant shaped article is fabricated from a filled thermoplastic composition comprising (1) a thermoplastic resin selected from polystyrene, styrene-acrylonitrile or styrene-methacrylonitrile copolymers and graft polymers prepared by polymerizing styrene in the presence of a rubbery polymer, (2) from 2À0 to 60 parts by weight, based on 100 parts by weight of the thermoplastic resin (1), of a thermoplastic rubber and (3) from 5 to 250 parts by weight, based on 100 parts by weight of the thermoplastic resin (1), of a particulate filler having a number average particle size of less than 2 microns. Examples are given in which (a) a graft polymer of styrene and acrylonitrile on polybutadiene, or an impact modified polystyrene, is mixed with butadiene-acrylonitrile rubber, or a polycaprolactone urethane elastoplastic, and with clay, titanium dioxide, or calcium carbonate, and, optionally, magnesium stearate; and (b) a graft polymer as in (a) is mixed with butadiene-acrylonitrile rubber, antimony trioxide, magnesium stearate, a brominated biphenyl and a polyether lubricant. |
