Thermosetting moulding materials are prepd. continuously and automatically by continuously charging the starting materials to a two roll compounding mill to form a sheet on the rolls, sepg. the sheet of compounded material from the surface of the rolls with a scraper blade, cutting the sheet of material with cutters while transferring the cut sheet with distribution plates, then removing the compounded material in the form of a sheet using an evacuation scraper designed to remove the material in the compounded state while measuring the temp. of the material with an IR thermometer. Used esp. for the prodn. of phenolic, epoxy, diallyl phthalate and unsatd. polyester moulding materials by a fully automatic process, giving prods. with uniform properties, suitale for fully automatic injection moulding and transfer moulding processes.
