Cupola furnace with pressure compensation syphon - has furnace pressure regulated slag collector with tilting slag outlet

The cupolar furnace has a compensation syphon which is connected by an overflow opening to a slag collector. The slag collector has an outlet for excess slag and the outlet level can regulated in relation to the furnace pressure. This ensures a constant slag pool level and variations within the furnace during operation and starting are reduced. The slag temp. is kept at furnace temp. for promoting oxidation of carbon and for suppressing silicon burn up. The slag collector can be rotated about an axis within the overflow opening of the compensation syphon. The collector is rotated by a pressure regulating system in relation to furnace pressure.
