A combined X ray and neutron diagnostic installation has a special type of charged particle production system in place of the normal X ray tube. The properties of this device are such that the body part under examination is simultaneously penetrated by X Ray and neutron beams. The spatially modulated radiation leaving the body is then separated into X Ray and neutron sections to produce two radiological exposures at the same time. The individual characteristics of these exposures are the bans of subsequent diagnosis.
