(Toilet) soap compsn. for use in hard water - contains a cotelomer to prevent scum formation and sogginess of the bar

Compsn. is used on alkali salts of fatty acids. The compsn. contains 2-10 wt.% (based on soap) of a cotelomer of formula: R-S-(CH2-CX(CN)-)m-(CH2-CX(CO2M)-)n-H (I) (where R is 8-18C aliphatic hydrocarbon; X is H or CH3; m and n are 6-30 and M is H, Na or K). The soap does not cause Ca soap scum to form when used in hard water. When in the form of a toilet soap bar (claimed), it does not become soggy and is thus not worn away so quickly.
