Exhaust ducts for burning building - has temp. of combustion gases reduced by water spray from nozzles within ducts

The exhaust system removes combustion products from a building on fire, with an auxiliary installation to reduce temp. of the gases to prevent damage to the ducting. The exhaust ducts are conveniently placed in corridors and consist of a duct (12) with a number of inlets. each run of ducting for a certain area terminates with an exhaust fan (14) discharging into the open. Parallel to the ducting a spray water supply piping (15) is installed. The inlet end of the water is on the end of the ducting and fitted with an automatic inlet valve (22) working in conjunction with a fire sensor (23). Upon outbreak of fire on any section the corresp. fire detector actuates the automatic valve and at the same time starts the exhaust fan (14).
