A large number of water-soluble dyes tends to gel as the hot solution cools down to room temperature. This makes it difficult in particular to prepare concentrated padding liquors for modern continuous dyeing processes. The present new solid dye preparations are suitable for preparing non-gelling padding liquors or dyebaths, for example for carpet dyeing. They contain at least one water-soluble acid dye of the anthraquinone, azo, azomethine or nitro series and a solid polyalkylene oxide condensation product of the formula I, II or III opposite, in which the indices are each as defined in Claim 1. These condensation products are in some instances less costly or better antigelling than the prior art liquid additives. <IMAGE>
