<p>1285239 Automatic liquid level control NORDSON CORP 8 May 1970 [8 May 1969] 22357/70 Heading G3R [Also in Division H1] Variations of liquid level are detected and corrected by movements of a partially immersed body having a density such that in a free condition it would sink in the liquid but which is attached to a lever balanced by a counterweight immersed only in ambient air. In Fig. 2, the level of adhesive in a reservoir associated with an applicator wheel is detected by a body 21, e.g. of coated aluminium, partially immersed in the adhesive and heavier than the quantity it displaces. Body 21 is attached to the end of a lever 20 pivoted at 16 and counter-balanced by an adjustable weight 26. Fall in the level of adhesive from a desired value causes lever 20 to move a magnet 32 relative to a dipped-in magnetically-operated mercury switch 40 so that an electro-pneumatically operated valve (not shown) is opened to supply further adhesive to the reservoir until the desired level is restored. Clockwise movement of the lever is limited by a stop 33.</p> |
