1478548 Tool changers; drilling machines SCHARMANN & CO 4 Nov 1974 [14 Nov 1973] 47600/74 Headings B3B and B3C A horizontal drilling and/or milling machine comprises a tool carrier W with a spindle mounted for horizontal and vertical movement, and a tool magazine 12 located laterally of the working position of the tool carrier and forwardly of the tool carrier W, the tools 22 or multiple tool heads 23 being supported in said magazine with their drive axis parallel to the said spindle by means of pins engaging in slots 25 in the magazine 12 and having slots 29 in a flange portion by which means pins 37 in the tool carrier W attach a tool or tool head to the tool carrier, and wherein to effect a tool change the tool carrier is movable from its working position to the magazine and removes a tool 22, 23 by vertical and horizontal movements. The pins 37 have a head 38 so that the pins 37 can be rotated in the slots 29 in unison by a chain drive 40 and then retracted by springs 42 to pull the tool 22 or tool head 23 on to the work carrier W. A fluid pressure means 47, 49 relieves the spring pressure during tool release. The machine comprises a workpiece support 11, which may be a rotary table, a bed 9 along which a slide 8 moves in the X-X direction, a post 2 movable on the slide 8 in the Z-Z direction, and a headstock movable vertically (Y-Y) along the post. |
