1292481 Electric couplings DATANETICS CORP 14 April 1970 [12 May 1969] 17609/70 Heading H2E In a multilayer circuit device, electrical connection between layers is by means of registering conductive contact tabs which are brought into contact with each other by a spring, the tabs being supported in different planes or substrates one at least of which is flexible. As shown, an electronic keyboard comprises a multilayer package 11 consisting of a circuit board 29 and thin substrate sheets 33a, 33b separated by insulating sheets 31a, 31b and 31c, the assembly with cover sheets 26, 27 being held between base plate 17 of key assembly 15 and chassis plate 19. Circuit board 29 has a row of contact tabs 37 along one edge. Contacts 38 on the underside of substrate 33b are aligned with two tabs 37 and contacts 44 on the underside of substrate 33a are aligned with three tabs (Fig. 3). In the latter case a cutaway portion 43 on substrate 33b permits contact to be made. For connecting circuitry on the top side of substrate 33b to the circuit board 29, two interconnected contacts 40a, 40b are provided on the underside of substrate 33a, another cutaway portion 42 on sheet 33b being necessary. Spring 21 which urges the contact tabs together has a plurality of spring fingers 21b so that there is at least one for each pair of aligned contact tabs. The insulating sheets have apertures aligned with one key assembly 15 so that actuation of the key brings about electrical contact between circuit layers. |
