Cold extrusion press At the same time as the press ram carries out its working stroke, the press tool and die are vibrated, either in the same direction as the working stroke or at right angles or both together. This makes possible the cold pressing of hitherto impossible-to-work materials, and the pressing in one operation of other difficult materials without intermediate annealing. The vibration may be produced by any suitable means such as hydraulic, magnetostrictive, piezoelectric, or magnetic, directly or indirectly, to a part or several parts of the press tools. |
