1,125,917. Graft polymer compositions. KANEGAFUCHI CHEMICAL INDUSTRY CO. Ltd. 18 Oct., 1966 [28 Oct., 1965], No. 46593/66. Heading C3G. A thermoplastic resinous composition comprises a copolymer obtained by emulsion polymerization of a monomer mixture consisting of (a) α-methyl styrene and methyl methacrylate or (b) α-methyl styrene, methyl methacrylate and acrylonitrile, the components of said mixture being in proportions delineated by the shaped area in the graph of Fig. 1; and a graft polymer obtained by emulsion polymerization of 65 to 35% by weight of a monomer mixture consisting of (a) methyl methacrylate, (b) methyl methacrylate and styrene, or (c) methyl methacrylate, styrene and acrylonitrile, said monomer compositions (b) and (c) having components in proportions delineated by the shaped area in the graph of Fig. 2, on to 35 to 65% by weight of synthetic diene rubber having latex particles at least 80% by weight of which are at least 0À1 micron in diameter, and said diene rubber comprising 5 to 30% by weight of said thermoplastic composition. In the examples, the rubber used is polybutadiene; others specified are polyisoprene, polychloroprene, butadiene-styrene copolymer, butadiene-acrylonitrile copolymer and isoprene-isobutylene copolymer. |
