<p>1492439 Prostaglandin esters UPJOHN CO 17 Oct 1975 [14 Nov 1974] 42611/75 Heading C2C The invention comprises optically active prostaglandin esters of the formulae or racemates thereof, wherein C g H 2g is C 1-9 alkylene with 1 to 5 carbon atoms in the chain between -CR 1 R 2 and the terminal methyl; R 1 and R 2 each are H, F, methyl or ethyl with the proviso that when one of R 1 or R 2 is F the other is F or H; R 3 and R 4 each are H, methyl or ethyl; T is C 1-4 alkyl, C 1-4 alkoxy, OH, F, Cl or CF 3 ; s is 0 to 3, provided that when s is 2 or 3 the T's may be the same or different and that not more than two T's are other than alkyl; Z is valence bond, O or C 1-9 alkylene optionally substituted with one or two fluorine atoms, with 1 to 6 carbon atoms between CR 3 R 4 and the ring; Y is 2,4-diacetamidophenyl, 4-acetomidonaphthyl, 4-benzamidonaphthyl or 4-ureidonaphthyl and their preparation by reacting the appropriate prostadienoic acids with isobutyl chloroformate in the presence of tertiary amines and reacting the resulting mixed anhydrides with phenols or naphthols of the formula E-OH. Pharmaceutical compositions, suitable for oral, sublingual, buccal, rectal, intravaginal, intrauterine or topical administration, contain the above prostaglandin esters together with pharmaceutically acceptable carriers. The esters possess similar pharmacological properties to those of the corresponding free acids.</p> |
