<p>The slide rule includes three major components, a fixed member (1), a smaller sliding rule (2) and a cursor (3). The fixed member has a central channel to receive the sliding member and a small groove to retain a small knurled button (6) attached to the front of the slide by small screws (7). In one embodiment of the invention, the fixed ruler has a broad and a narow upper portion (4, 5), the narrow being sectioned to retain the edge of the longitudinal has one straight edge perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the composite rule, to permit readings to be taken on the graduated scales. The slide rule may be esp. marked for calculations of speeds in km/hr. or miles per hour.</p> |
