[Also in Division C3] Inorganic particles (a) are coated with sufficient water-insoluble salt or soap of a waxy hydrocarbon oxidate (b) to wet out particles (a). (a) may be asbestos, talc, clay, or hydrated Mg silicate, and may be spherical, fibrous, modular, platy, or acicular. The particles may pass 10 mesh or 200 mesh Tyler, (b) may be a salt of Ca, Ba, Mg, Zn, Fe, or Pb, and petroleum oxidized to acid number 20-50,, and there may by 0À2-3 parts by wt. (b) per part (a). The coating may be performed by rendering (b) liquid, e.g. by heating or dissolving, and then contacting with (a). |
