<p>A detergent composition in the form of free-flowing hollow beads is described. This contains spray-dried beads which contain at least 5% by weight of a water-soluble synthetic organic anionic detergent and not more than 2% by weight of a water-soluble organic non-ionic detergent, plus 15-45% by weight of finely divided potassium aluminium silicate or sodium aluminium silicate molecular sieves which are insoluble in water. These molecular sieves remove calcium ions from the washing water without harmful soluble constituents contaminating the effluent through the wash liquor. It is moreover possible with these detergent compositions, when they are formulated without phosphates or with a reduced phosphate content, to achieve very good washing results which are comparable with those for detergents with a high phosphate content.</p> |
