<p>1448057 Pencil HASBRO INDUSTRIES Inc 4 April 1974 [6 April 1973] 15011/74 Addition to 1382362 Heading B6P [Also in Division C3] The sheath for the marking core of a pencil is made from an extrudable composition which comprises, by weight, 50-75% of a thermoplastic resin binder, 20-40% of fibrous filler particles comprising cellulose and/or leather particles, and 0À5 to 15% of a soap of a metal other than sodium or potassium, the weight ratio of binder to filler particles being 1À5 : 1 to 3 : 1. Suitable resin binders are A.B.S. resin, rubber modified high impact polystyrene, a cellulose ester resin, a homo- or copolymeric vinyl resin (other than those already specified) or ethyl cellulose or a mixture of two or more thereof. In the examples, wood flour is used as fibrous cellulose particles. On extrusion around the marking core, the sheath composition may be made to become porous in structure by the inclusion in the extrudable composition, of a blowing agent.
