<p>A device intended for the encoding of PCM telephone signals, the system comprising in particular a reference voltage generator reproducing the 8 linear segments of the standardized compression law, a comparator which is supplied at one of it's inputs with the aforesaid reference signal and, at the other, with the previously sampled signal of unknown level, this after the possible reversal of the two signals in order to give them the same polarity and after the sign of the sample has been determined by the temporary application to the reference input of the comparator of a signal of zero level.</p> |
