<p>The plate has round holes (4) at one end, for screwing it to one part (1) of the broken bone. The other end of the plate has some round holes, for final fixing but also two long slots (6, 8) one of which has teeth (9) along one side. A screw (7) is passed through the plain long slot and into the second part (2) of the broken bone. A tool (18), fitted into the other (toothed) slot is then used to draw the ends of the broken bone together. The (hand)tool (18) has a toothed pinion (17) which fits the teeth in the slot, and a spindle (19) which fits into a hole drilled ready for it in the bone. A tool guide is provided to enable the drill holes under the long slots to be correctly positioned.</p> |
