<p>A cutting plate of ceramics or carbide, for mounting on a rotary cutting tool, has trapezoidal edge indentations and is used for cutting cast iron with moderately powered machines. The indented edging reduces cutting friction and machine power. Each successive indentation has identical geometry, is symmetrical relative to the median axis which is normal to the edge, and subtens an angle of 90 deg.. The summit of each tooth and the intervening valleys are parallel to the edge and of equal length. The pitch of the indentations (P) may be 2mm.</p> |
