Method of guiding the yarn ends liberated when the yarn is situated between a yarn supply package and a full pirn prior to continuing to wind it onto a new pirn, esp. in the pirn winder of a loom, comprises (a) installing a first yarn guide, displaced from a point in front of the wound yarn which has fallen on a support for the wound yarn in the direction of the pirn base at the instant the pirns are changed; (b) installin a second yarn guide, which follows a rapid path after a temporary stop, along its original path from a point above the centre of the wound yarns which has fallen onto its support and in the opposite direction to the path of the first yarn guide; (c) intercepting the yarn which extends from the wound yarn and the yarn supply package at a specific point in its path by means of the first yarn guide where the wound yarn has fallen on its support; (d) following the movement of the first yarn guide to tension the yarn, which it has intercepted and simultaneously circulating the second yarn guide to intercept the first guide at a predetermined point to prevent drawing-off the yarn; (e) cutting the yarn by a knife when the first yarn guide reaches a predetermined position near the base of the pirn, and (f) rapidly displacing the second yarn guide to align it rectilinearly with that end of the cut yarn which extends from the wound-up yarn after having wound it round the second yarn guide, and directing this yarn end to a support when the other cut end has moved towards the next pirn.
|
