<p>1479386 Bearing pads; elastomeric springs FELT PRODUCTS MFG CO 28 Oct 1975 [29 Oct 1974] 44389/75 Headings F2A and F2S A bearing pad comprises (1) an elastomeric main body of durometer hardness between 40 and 65, (2) a non-metallic intermediate layer, less compressible than the main body and bonded thereto, and (3) a fluorohydrocarbon polymer bearing layer bonded to the intermediate layer, the main body containing at least one shim plate having one of its surfaces lying adjacent to the intermediate layer, e.g. directly against the layer or spaced from it by a distance of up to half the thickness of the intermediate layer. In Fig. 1, a bridge bearing pad assembly comprises main body 30 (chloroprene) containing steel shims 32A-32D, intermediate harder chloroprene layer 36 and PTFE bearing layer 38 slidably engaging with slide plate assembly 10 comprising stainless steel slide plate 22 secured to mounting plate 20 by elastomeric cushion 24. Intermediate layer 36 may alternatively be made of leather, epoxy resin or rubber-bonded asbestos sheet. In Figs. 4 and 5, L is an inclined load bearing bridge member, S a support, while P<SP>1</SP>, P<SP>2</SP> and B<SP>1</SP>, B<SP>2</SP> are slide plate and bearing pad assemblies respectively.</p> |
