Orthopaedic bands coated with polymerisable material - forming rigid shell when contacted and wound around fractured limb

Two orthopaedic bands for application to a fractured limb are each coated with a synthetic material which is polymerised on contact with the other, e.g. a polyester mixed with catalyst on one band, and a polyester mixed with hardener on the other band. The two bands are then wrapped separately in sealed bag. When they are to be used, the two bags are cut open, then the bands are wound successively around the fractured limb, providing contact between the two coatings. After about 10 mins., the prod. hardens forming a rigid shell. The orthopaedic bands are hygienic, can be applied and dried rapidly, are solid and light, have a reduced vol. and are resistant to rain.
