Cassette for endless typewriter ribbon - has ink cartridge held closed and in retracted position prior to use

Cassette for endless ink ribbon for typewriters has an ink cartridge (4) for replenishment of the ribbon. The cartridge has a felt tip (6) whereby to engage a roller (7) over which the ribbon passes, the engagement being under the pressure of a spring (5). When the cassette is taken into use on the typewriter a vent hole in the cartridge is opened by removal of a piece of adhesive tape (1). This also removes a stop (2) which up to then has held the cartridge away from contact with the roller. The arrangement avoids loss of ink prior to use e.g. during transport.
